Kankakee has Highest Unemployment Rate in Illinois

The Illinois Department of Employment Security reports that Kankakee County had the highest unemployment rate in the state for January, coming in at 6.1 percent. Rockford has held the number 1 spot for about a year, but fell to second last month.  Even so, last month’s 6.1 percent is still better than the 6.9 percent jobless rate of January of 2022
