Fetty Wap was arrested at Rolling Loud festival at Citi Field in New York ahead of his performance on Thursday (October 28th).
According to XXL, Fetty, born William Junior Maxwell II, was taken into custody on federal drug charges after being accused of participating in a drug distribution ring that moved over 100 kilos of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine and crack cocaine in New York and New Jersey, his home state.
The arrest took place before Fetty took the stage at Rolling Loud.
Fetty Wap and five others, Anthony Cyntje, a New Jersey correction officer, Anthony Leonardi, his brother Robert Leonardi, Brian Sullivan and Kavaughn Wiggins, are facing charges of conspiring to distribute and possession of controlled substances. Five of the arrested individuals were also accused of using firearms in connection with the drug trafficking. The men have all been arrested and are in custody pending their trials while Fetty was the final person involved in the alleged drug ring to be arrested.
The investigation also claims that the alleged drug ring operated across the U.S. The case additionally received assistance from the Long Island Gang Task Race.
The indictment claims that the ring lasted between June of 2019 and June of 2020, in which the six indicted men moved 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine across Long Island and New Jersey. They allegedly obtained drugs from the West Coast and used the United States Postal Service to distribute the drugs on the East Coast.
As for Fetty's specific role in the ring, according to the indictment, he was a “kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organization.”
Police also allegedly recovered approximately $1.5 million in cash, 16 kilograms of cocaine, two kilograms of heroin, numerous fentanyl pills, two 9mm handguns, a rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, a .40 caliber pistol and ammunition while executing search warrants on the members of the organization.
According to TMZ, Fetty's attorney, Navarro Gray, said in a statement, “We pray that this is all a big misunderstanding. He sees the judge today. Hoping he gets released so we can clear things up expeditiously.”
Fetty Wap is looking at a maximum of life in prison if found guilty.
