County Board recognizes tornado recovery efforts

During Tuesdasy morning’s Kankakee County Board meeting, the Board recognized both businesses and individuals for their efforts in response to the March 10th tornado. Nicole Smolkovich, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of the Kankakee River Valley started by recognizing the Aroma Park Methodist Church

Also recognized during the meeting were the local Knight’s of Columbus  and Project Headspace and timing. County Sheriff Mike Downey recognized Kankakee County Emergency Management Agency Director Becky Powell, Assistant Director Angela Buzas and Animal Control Director Kari Laird for their efforts following the storms.

Recovery from the storm continues. During Tuesday’s meeting the County Board awarded contracts for roof work on various county buildings for a total of just over 865-thousand dollars.
