County deputies report gun arrest

Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police report the arrest of a 41-year-old Pembroke Township man after he allegedly threatened an officer and an elected official. According to reports, it was just after five Friday evening when deputies were called to a gas station in Pembroke Township and were told a man had been in the station carrying a rifle. The deputy says he saw a man matching the description of the one with the rifle arguing with a group of men at the south end of the gas station parking lot. Reports say the man walked away from the group, then allegedly pull something that looked like a rifle from his jeans and toss it into a dumpster. Deputies reportedly detained that man, identified as Arthur L. Hanner, then pulled a rifle from the dumpster. An empty magazine for the rifle was allegedly found in Hanner’s pocket. While on the way to jail, Hanners allegedly threatened the officer and his family along with an elected county official. Hanners was booked into the Jerome Combs Detention center on charges that include aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and threatening a public official.
