The Jasper County Indiana Sheriff’s Department reports an off-duty DeMotte Police Officer has died. According to a statement made on Facebook, Officer Durral Hale passed away Monday at the age of thirty-five after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Hale worked for the Jasper County Sherriff’s office from 2015 to 2021 and began working part-time for the DeMotte Police Department in 2017 up until his death. During his career, Hale received numerous commendations, including the Meritorious Service Award, in recognition of his outstanding dedication to the citizens of Jasper County. Services for Hale will be held Noon Saturday at Grace Church in DeMotte.
