A crash on Route 10 at County Road 12-hundred West in Demotte Wednesday morning forced the road to be closed for a time. In a press release, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department says it was just after 10:30 yesterday morning when they started getting calls about the multi-vehicle crash. Deputies say their preliminary investigation shows a semi, driven by 38-year-old Emmanuel Lopez Tlacomulco of East Chicago ran a stop light and hit a car driven by 57-year-old Kimberly Bansley of Portage, forcing the car into a semi driven by a man from Cape Coral, Florida. Bansley, a child in her car and the driver from Cape Coral were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Reports say Tlacomulco was taken to the hospital in Rensselaer, then arrested by Jasper County Deputies when it was found he was driving without a valid driver’s license. Immigration officials also put a hold on him because he is allegedly an undocumented immigrant. Reports say the crash is still under investigation.
