Arson Suspected in Kankakee Fire Tuesday

Kankakee City Fire Department was called out to fight a blaze at a home in the 800 Block of North Greenwood Avenue Tuesday. Kankakee Fire Chief Bryan LaRoche tells us crews responded to the call around 11 Tuesday morning. When they arrived, firefighters found a two and a half car detached garage full involved with flames. The fire was put out quickly. Heat from the fire damaged the home and completely damaged three vehicles. Damage to the home is estimated at around 40-thousand dollars with the loss of the vehicles around 30-thousand. Residents of the home stated the fire was the result of arson. The suspect was found by an arson investigator and taken in for questioning. The name of the person has yet to be released by the Kankakee City Police. No injuries were reported in the fire.
