At Monday night’s Kankakee City Council meeting, aldermen passed an ordinance to make another amendment to the tax increment financing agreement for with J. Jeffers, the developer who plans to remodel the former Midland States Bank building on Schuyler Avenue and build apartments next to it on Station Street. Mayor Chris Curtis says both projects will be worked on at the same time and hard dates have been set.
Mayor Curtis said in the amended agreement with Jeffers that both the new apartment building and the remodel of the old Midland States Bank building have to be completed by October 2027.
