Gas prices continue their slow downward trek as we get closer to the Fourth of July holiday. Triple-A says the average cost for a gallon  of regular no-lead gas is four-dollars-24 cents across the Land of Lincoln. That’s down 18 cents in the past week, and 80 cents cheaper than the cost a month ago. That same gallon of gas will set you back four-dollars and a dime in the Kankakee area, 81 cents cheaper than the May 19th price. Triple A says gas is running 4.19 on average in Iroquois County, 4.42 in Ford County, 4.09 in Grundy County and three-dollars-94 cents a gallon on average in Will County.

Across the state line, Triple-A says a gallon of gas will set you back three-dollars-42 cents on average in Newton County, 3.49 in Benton County and 3.39 in Jasper County. A gallon of gas is running three-dollars and 38 cents on average across the Hoosier State. Indiana’s tax on gasoline has been suspended through July 7th.
