During Wednesday morning’s meeting of the Kankakee County Board’s Criminal Justice Committee, County Sheriff Mike Downey told the committee he’s been working with 79th District State Representative Jackie Haas on a piece of legislation that would return prison inmates to the county jail for the last six months of their sentence
Downey says he doubts the legislation will go anywhere since the State would have to pay the county to house the inmate for the last six months of their sentences.
