Gas prices took another jump overnight, the state-wide average now topping five dollars a gallon. According to Triple-A, the average cost for a gallon of gas across the State jumped six cents overnight, making the average five-dollars and three cents across the Land of Lincoln. Gas in the Kankakee area is a bit cheaper on gallon, running four-dollars-92 cents on average – that’s down three cents in the past week, but 80 cents more expensive than it was a month ago and a dollar 70 more than we were paying a year ago at this time. Triple-A says gas is running 4.91 on average across Iroquois and Ford Counties, 4.92 in Grundy County and 4.94 in Will County.
Across the State line, Triple-A says a gallon of gas will set you back four-dollars-64 cents on average in Newton County, it’s 4.89 a gallon in Benton County and 4.83 in Jasper County . The cost for a gallon of gas is running four-dollars-28 cents on average across the Hoosier State. The nation-wide average is 4.51 a gallon.
